PBJ with some Aargh!

Ahoy Maties,

This weekend was the long awaited PB & J tournament down in College Station, TX! It was a whopping 100 degrees both days! My team, Flying Dutchman, got 3rd place in the tournament! Leaving with a 4 win 3 loss record, half and half, not half bad. Although our last game indeed was a forfeit win, we did have a fun drill afterwords to make up for the extra time. We also got to watch Huck Norris and Cosa Nostra play out the final game. Cosa Nostra won in the end 12-6, congratulations to them! And also to Huck Norris who placed 2nd overall.

Now that PB & J is sadly over, the next tourney we can all look forward to is Texas Two Finger! Hopefully I get to see all the talented teams I had the pleasure of playing this weekend, and maybe loot a few more wins!

To my Dutchman team who reads my blog,

We did great this weekend! I am very honored to have been given the opportunity to play with all you amazing mermaid bangers/pirates/wenches. Also, thank you to Puma/A-Ron, Clu, Joel, and Danny who trusted me with the disc and let me handle for the first time in a tourney! It was so much fun, I learned a bunch!

Will much more to learn and hone, I wish you all a spectacular weekend and hope those of you who were in the tourney this weekend get some much deserved rest and some much deserved beer!

Cheers, to disc throwers everywhere!

FD Pool Party!

Hello Everyone,

After a long, long, practice yesterday in the 100 degrees heat my wonderful Flying Dutchmen team graced my family with their prescience when the came over after practice at SMU's Sorority Park, and swam in our pool! We did many lay-outs into the pool and the of age had beers a plenty. The party ended around 5:30 in the afternoon, and everyone had a blast. So, to those of you who made it out to practice and to my house yesterday, hope you had a grrrreat time! My grandparents also loved meeting you all, definitely.

While my brother's team, the Huck-a-bees went 1-1. Hopefully everyone else had a great night out there and played their hearts out! Hope everyone has an ultimate filled weekend!

Cats, and Kitty Cats!

Cat Fact of the Day!

Cats may have many periods of heat over the course of a year. A heat period lasts about 4 to 7 days if the female is bred; if she is not bred, the heat period lasts longer.

A female cat may mate with more than one male when she is in heat, so different kittens in a litter may have different fathers.

If one is not used to the sounds of cats mating, it sounds very much like a cat fight.

The gestation period for cats is around 63-65 days. Sizes of a cats litter averages around three to five kittens, with the first litter usually smaller than subsequent litters. Kittens are weaned at between six and seven weeks, and cats normally reach sexual maturity at 4-10 months (females) and to 5-7 months (males).

Cats can be ready to go to new homes at about 7 weeks old, or when they are ready to leave their mother. A Cat can be surgically sterilized (spayed or neutered) as early as 6-8 weeks to limit unwanted reproduction. This surgery also prevents undesirable sex-related behavior, such as territory marking (spraying urine) in males and yowling (calling) in females. If an animal is neutered after such behavior has been learned, however, it may persist.

Overheated to a FD!

Greeting Disc Huckers!

Today was a hot 98 degrees in Arlington, Texas where the Flying Dutchmen(FD) executed their weekly practice. Starting with two sweat breaking warm up drills to a heated scrimmage, with little water breaks and the sun constantly overhead. To lighten up practice, I so cleverly initiated the 'Down-Up' game where everyone stands in a circle with their arms around the people next to them, and one person, me in this instance, says 'Down, Up' and everyone looks down and then up at someone else in the circle. If you and another person are looking at each other, you both are out. It was a nice way to cool down after our scrimmage. Then afterwards we had another hard drill, the 'Figure 8'. A drill consisting of a series of cuts, and fakes, until the thrown is given. You are constantly running during this drill, which is why it was no surprise to my team when our captain, Clu, stated that after the drill we would have sprints. Clu is one of that many forms of Satan. Sprints were fun, a way to get out any energy you thought you didn't have, and during the rest period in between sprints, we had mini-workouts like push-ups, crunches, jumping-jacks, and squats. We ended the exhausting practice with a super-soaker, which Clue sprayed everyone with and breaking it out of 1, 2, 7. "Flying Dutchmen!"

Hope all you disc huckers got out there on this beautifully clear and hot day and threw the disc!
